Kay Fukunaga

Kay has made many solid friendships through her activities with The Guilds and other support groups at the Center. She is a longtime member of the Camelot Chapter and served as chairman as well as nearly every other position on the board throughout the years. In addition, she has served on The Guilds executive board in a variety of positions and was co-chair of The Guilds with Gail Daniels in 2005-06. Kay continued to expand her Center connection by helping to launch the Pas de Deux Chapter, which supports the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School, and the Sound of Music Chapter which supports Studio D.

Kay began to consider what she wanted her legacy to be when her parents passed away. It was a difficult time for her, but she felt that she got through it in part because she had the Center as a temporary escape through music and dance. She doesn't have children, so she has made plans to leave a significant portion of her estate to the Center. What better way to celebrate something that has made such a positive impact in her life?

"In many ways, I consider the Center my home away from home," says Kay. "I have been grateful to have such a great arts institution so close by and to indulge in my favorite shows and entertainers. There have been many times when a Broadway musical or a great singer has lifted my spirits and reminded me why the performing arts are so essential to our lives."

As someone who has made a planned gift to the Center, Kay is a member of the Legacy Society. She and Dale enjoy attending the annual Legacy Society dinner and performance. It is an opportunity to celebrate her commitment to the Center with others who have made the same choice. She encourages more people to do the same.

"The Center is such an important part of Orange County," says Kay. "Including a gift to the Center in your estate planning means its legacy - and yours - will continue to benefit our community for generations to come."
